Hiatus

Sunday 19 December 2010

I'm currently on my Christmas break from uni and I've decided to take a temporary hiatus while I'm at home, because I want to spend as much time as I can enjoying my holidays with my family and friends. I'll be back blogging properly sometime in the new year when I return to uni.

I just wanted to say, I hope you all have an amazing Christmas and a wonderful new year. Also, I would like to add a massive thank you all for the support you guys have given me and my blog over the past 7 months - I appreciate it so much! :) I've got a couple of post ideas lined up for the new year, so I hope you'll come back, take a look and find them interesting.

Review: Body Shop Sheer Lip Shine

Friday 17 December 2010

Hey everyone. How are you all? Can you believe it's only just over a week until Christmas! I've had this review saved as a draft for ages, I just kept forgetting to post it! :/

Shade: Sheer Pink

What they say: (From TheBodyShop.co.uk) A beautiful range of luxurious moisturizing lipsticks that offer sheer colour coverage with a high shine finish and a sweet scent on application.

Price: £5

Swatch:

What I think: I bought this in the Body Shop sale a while back and I've been wearing it pretty much every day since I got it.

It's a pretty, slightly glossy pink colour, which looks extremely natural on the lips due to how sheer the lipstick is. It can be built up to give a more intense colour. The lipstick applies easily and is extremely moisturising - One day I left my Nivea lipbalm at home and used this to keep my lips moisturised throughout the day. Therefore, I'd call it tinted lip balm rather than a lipstick. It has a slightly fruity fragrance, which is rather pleasant. I also really like the packaging, it looks so sleek and elegant.

The main disadvantage is that the staying power of this lipstick isn't very long, only a couple of hours max. When the lipstick is full price (£9), I would say that it's expensive for a high-street make-up brand.

I would definitely recommend this product if you like a sheer and moisturising wash of colour on the lips. However, I don't know if they still sell this product anymore. I looked on the Body Shop website and couldn't find this particular product anymore, but I think the Delipscious Sheer Lipsticks are the new alternatives.

Do you like sheer lip colours?

Review: Tigi Bedhead Foxy Curls Shampoo

Friday 10 December 2010

What they say: (From TigiHaircare.com) Flaunt your Foxy Curls! This sulfate-free moisturelicious shampoo fights frizz, redefines curls and adds shine. Be foxy! Be fierce!
  • Smoothes and provides curl memory
  • Gentle cleansing without stripping or weighing down hair
  • Detangles
Price: £5.99 from TK Maxx (RRP £8.50)

What I think: I have slightly wavy hair, which if left to dry naturally has a wavy-and-slightly-frizzy look. Since using this shampoo, I have noticed that my curls appear more defined, bouncy and less frizzy. The shampoo leaves my hair feeling soft, even if I don't use conditioner afterwards.

I picked up this shampoo, because it doesn't contain sodium laureth sulphate, an ingredient in most shampoos. Despite not having SLS (the foaming agent), the shampoo lathers extremely well, which surprised me since I was expecting little to no lather.

This shampoo smells so amazing, like Skittles! Everytime I use it in the shower, I inhale deeply to take in the smell. Unfortunately, the smell doesn't remain once the hair is dry. Maybe if the Foxy Curls conditioner is used in conjunction with the shampoo, the scent might remain.

I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this shampoo, except maybe that the price is a little steep for a shampoo. But for my hair type and the results that I've gotten, I think it's well worth it.

I also have Tigi Beadhead Small Talk, which is a 3-in-1 Thickifier, Energizer, Stylizer - Would you like to see a review for that? Have you tried any Tigi products before?

Thank you for reading. xoxo, Joy

Wardrobe Envy: Rachel Bilson

Tuesday 7 December 2010

All images are from tfs

I've always liked Rachel Bilson's outfit choices. Her choices are always spot on. She knows how to flatter her petite figure and sticks to quite safe and simple options, while still looking amazing and making the clothes work for her.

NOTD: Champagne

Saturday 4 December 2010

2 coats of Models Own Nail Polish in 'Champagne'

After seeing a couple of blogs with NOTDs in this polish, I knew I had to have it. This is the most amazing colour ever - It's a silvery/gold with fine glitter. So perfect for the festive season. It applied like a dream. The formula is easy to work with and with 1 coat, you get a gorgeous opaque colour. Due to habit, I painted another coat on top which just topped off the colour and gave a perfect finish. Due to this being a glittery polish, I can imagine that it'll be a pain to remove, but because the colour is so pretty, it's worth it. (Can you tell how much I love the colour?!)

I think I might be investing in some more Models Own nail polishes in the near future. Do any of you have any colour recommendations?

xoxo, Joy

ETA: In contrary to my theory that this would be difficult to remove, it was as easy to remove as any other! This was a pleasant surprise, since I was imagining that I would be there forever!

Project 10 Empties

Thursday 2 December 2010

I was recently looking through my make-up and skin care products and have realised my collection has grown quite rapidly since the summer. Although the size of my collection is nothing compared to some of other bloggers' collections, I have more products than I need and/or can use before they reach their 'sell by date'.

So, I have decided that it's a new month and I really need to use up some of the products I own. I was inspired by Lollipop26's Project 10 Pan 'movement' to try and use up 10 products before buying any more. I realise that most people only include make-up in their project, but I am going to include skin and body products as well, since I think I'll be here forever if I only include make-up (I swear my make-up always takes absolutely ages to run out!), hence why I will be calling it Project 10 Empties. However, I have decided that at least 5 things counted in this project have to be make-up. ETA: An update/change to how I am going to carry out this 'project' is here.

Keep an eye out for updates on this to see how I'm getting along.

Have any of you ever done Project 10 Pan or something along those lines? How long did it take you to complete?

Thanks for reading. xoxo, Joy
