Review: Lacura Beauty Cover Stick

Saturday, 22 May 2010

I popped into my local Aldi to buy some of their cheapie sweets, including a packet of 79pence 'Gourmet Jelly Beans', which are actually extremely yummy. :)

While I was in there, I remembered reading an online newspaper article about Aldi's beauty range, Lacura. So I hopped on over to the beauty aisle, had a quick ponder and picked up the Lacura Beauty Cover Stick in Shade 03 (Sand).

What they say: (From the back of the box) Lacura Cover Stick is the perfect cover-up for spots, dark shadows around the eyes and blemishes, without blocking the skin's pores. The lightweight texture with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties soothes the skin and provides even coverage without leaving a mask-like effect.

Price: £1.29

What I think: I like that the product is in the shape of lipstick, because this makes it easy to fit into my make-up bag and carry around with me. When I read the product description on the back of the box, I liked the idea of the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, although I haven't experienced anything yet which shows that these properties are doing something.

I generally apply the concealer over a few blemishes, around my nose and under my eyes. I found that the colour was a good match for my skintone (I wear MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC15). The concealer is quite difficult to blend with my fingers. I ended up using a cosmetic sponge, which did the job. The coverage of the concealer is pretty good, although I had to use some of my Studio Fix Concealer as well to cover my undereye circles. The longevity of the concealer was average. It lasted for a good proportion of the day, which is impressive since I was in a hot lecture room for the majority of the day.

I'm definitely willing to try more products from the Lacura range. It it quite likely that I would repurchase this product, especially since it costs just over £1! But it would probably only be as a 'top-up' concealer which I carry around and use as necessary. I think I will be sticking to my MAC Studio Finish concealer for daily use.

Have any of you ever tried any of Lacura products?

Thank you for reading. xoxo, Joy
